Hand-made File Box with Heart
I was drawn to this simple upright box because of the delicately painted heart and shield that decorate the front and also because it’s constructed with tiny square and irregular nails. It retains its original handle and early hinges, and appears to have had a lift-out tray at one time, as well as decorative hardware on the corners of the top. Perfect for keeping track of bills, or, if you’re like me and buy greeting cards whenever you find great ones, this would be an ideal place to keep them. 1890s to 1910
