Early Hand Crafted Feather Tree Stand, American
The way I see it, a “curious object” can be something so unusual I’m not even sure what it is, or something that’s uniquely different from the norm. This hand-made stand for a small Christmas tree falls into the second category. The form is wonderful: a large round base 27” in diameter with a sturdy tree in the center stand surrounded by a circular picket fence. Made of painted pine with hand-cut screws and dovetail construction, this piece comes from a German community near Fredericksburg, Texas. The round tree stand is 7” H and has four study wooden braces. The forest green and silver paint is original. First quarter 20th century. This would look great with a silver feather tree or simply a large curvaceous branch.
