SOLD Painting of Horses by Purvis Young (1943-2010)

I love the musicality of this painting with its gyrating figures and spirited horses against a background of fiery orange and gold. An important symbol in the artist’s work, horses signified both freedom and the warrior spirit. And this piece captures both. It’s done with house paint on found wood and framed by the artist with scrap boards painted with flocks of birds. The painting comes from a Miami collector and friend of the artist. 45” h X 27” w.  Signed, no date.
