Miniature Arts & Crafts Ensemble

Miniature Arts & Crafts Ensemble
Acquired at an estate auction, this four-piece set of miniature Arts & Crafts furniture was purportedly made by a boy whose grandfather was the warden at Alcatraz in the 1930s. When the boy visited his granddad, he would sometimes accompany him to work and spend time in the prison workshop on projects such as this. Wood-working was a popular hobby at the time, and patterns for all kinds of pieces could be found in “Boy’s Life” and other magazines. (I sold a dinette set made by this same boy to a customer whose father had made her the very same set when she was a child.) The Arts & Crafts ensemble includes a leather-covered sofa that measures 17-3/4″ L X 7-3/4″ H X 6-3/8″ D; a library table that’s 10-1/2″ L X 7″ W X 6-3/4″ H’ and a leather-covered chair and rocker of similar proportions. Very good condition.

$1,300 for the set
