Black Bottle Doll in a Dotted Swiss Dress

As doll collector know, the right combination of clothing items and accessories can give the humblest of home-made rag dolls a presence and personality all her own. So it is with this example: a 1930s black bottle doll wearing a full-skirted dress of blue and cream dotted Swiss fabric over a slip of red net. Add a kerchief made of the same fabric, an organdy apron with a red cotton heart-shaped pocket, and a pair of shell earrings, and the spell is complete. The doll herself has a head and torso made from a brown sock and arms made from black cotton. She has an embroidered smile and yellow button eyes. She stands 14” tall and is in very good original condition. Maker and origin unknown.
