Hats off to the maker of this early piece for creating such a beguiling toy. The piece is made from an old chenille bedspread, which gives it just the right texture. Skillfully embroidered features in rust and black thread add to the toy’s life-like quality. After so many years of being plaid with, the lamp is a little week in the knees and doesn’t stand on its own. But the right little will prop it up nicely. [Note: The lithographed tin box in the photos is NOT included in the sale.] The lamb is 14-1/2” l X 12” h X 3-1/2” w. Found in Philadelphia. Early 20th c.
