SOLD Antique Crazy Quilt Fragment as Art

I love the fact that someone was inspired enough by this crazy quilt fragment to mount it under glass in a folk art frame. The fabrics are mostly velvets and silks, while the fine needlework is a glorious sampling of intricate stitches and styles.

What I really like about the piece is the point-counterpoint of delicate handwork in a rustic frame. The quilted piece, which is in excellent condition, probably dates from the 1890s to around 1910, while the frame is probably first quarter 20th c. It’s in good condition but, as the photos show, is missing small pieces from two of the corners. The framed size is 21-1/2” X 17-1/4”, with an image area of 9” X 13”.
