In the last decade of his life, celebrated New Mexico carver Felipe Archuleta was still making art. His drawing of a bobcat — untitled but signed and dated May 21, 1982 — is done in colored ink on an 8” X 10-3/4” sheet of paper. The framed drawing is 15” X 13.”
It comes from a collector who acquired it directly from Mr. Archuleta some years ago. The collector went to his home in hopes of purchasing one of Archuleta’s carved animals. But the only piece the 82-year-old artist had on hand was a drawing attached to his refrigerator. This is it! Overall good condition with slight discoloration to the paper, as the photos show.
