Antique Minisature Cherry Highboy, Cabriole Legs

It’s hard to say whether this finely crafted 19th c. miniature was apprentice-made or the work of a professional showcasing his vision of a full size version. In either case, this is an elegant, eye-catching piece.

Nineteen inches tall and built as a single piece, the highboy is made of cherry wood and various fruitwoods. I love the bonnet-like top and the cabriole legs with pad fee on the front. The piece is constructed with three medium drawers in the upper case and one larger drawer in the lower case. The drawer fronts are framed in decorative molding and are beautifully inlaid with fruit wood veneer.

Dating from the 1870s-1880s, the highboy is all original and in excellent overall condition. There are a few scratches on the top drawer, as the photos show, but no breaks, replacement parts or repairs. Dimensions are 19” T x 11” W x 7.5” D.
