SOLD Early Herschell Carousel Horse’s Head

Early Herschell Carousel Horse’s Head
What started life as the head of a carnival horse is now a colorful and collectible piece of folk art. Measuring 22-1/2” L X 6” W X 18” H, the carved head retains its original yellow paint, carved mane and bridle, and carved wooden eyes — one of the trademarks of Herschell carousel animals. The painted tin make-do ears give this cheerful piece an added measure of whimsicality. The head can stand alone or be wall-mounted. American, early 20thc.
