If you’re looking for a dramatic way to showcase a single prized Santo or a collection of small treasures, this may be the answer. With its exuberant color and carving, this early nicho is a functional object of art. Made of wood rather than tin, it sits on cut out legs; features nail construction; and has a hinged glass-front door that latches — although the glass is new, not old. Exterior dimensions are 22-1/4” h x 18” w x 8-1/2” d. The interior display area is 14-1/4” h x 10-3/4” w x 5-1/2” d. The origin is unknown but I’d say Mexico or Central America. C.1910.
