SOLD Antique Infant’s Coverlet

An eye-catching departure from the typical pink, yellow and blue of today’s infant bedding, this early coverlet is made mostly of velvet fabrics in a palette that suggests rich spices such as cardamom, cinnamon and saffron. The coverlet is machine stitched with lightweight cotton batting and backed with a monochromatic cotton print. It measures 32” X 24” including the 2-1/2” deep border of crocheted lace. In the center of the piece the word BABY is crocheted in the requisite pastels. Very good condition with a few missing stitches here and there and some lights stains on the underside, as the photos show. C. 1910-1920s.
