J. Chein & Company, established in 1903, is known for it beautifully lithographed tin toys such as this colorful tin drum featuring circus animals and acts. The toy is in very good to excellent condition for its age, with no punctures or breaks and only modest playwear. The round “J. CHEIN & CO. MADE IN U.S.A.” mark that appears with the elephant was introduced in the 1920s, making this a very collectible early toy. Dimensions are 5-1/2” H X 8-3/4” in diameter.
